Taking in kittens / young cats in need of homes

We work closely with Cat Rescue Christchurch so most of our cats come to us via them, or occasionally from other rescue organisations. However, we are sometimes able to take kittens / young cats in directly, particularly during our quieter periods. The cafe is a unique, relatively busy environment so it is not a suitable environment for all cats. Generally kittens and outgoing younger cats (under a year old) fit in the best. They do need to be:

  • Good with other cats

  • Relatively confident / good with people

  • Healthy (i.e no contagious illnesses although we are very happy to take in cats with disabilities)

Ideally they will also be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped but this is not a requirement, we will organise this if necessary.

Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any kittens / young cats needing homes and you think they would be suitable in our environment. We will let you know if we are able to help but do be aware this is not always possible. If we are unable to help, we recommend getting in touch with any of the following organisations:

  • Cat Rescue Christchurch

  • Kitty Haven

  • Cats Protection League

  • Kitty Kingdom

  • Puss in Boots

  • Street Cats South Canterbury (Timaru)
